Start in three steps
- Create an RSI account with the code shown in the signup form and enable two-factor authentication.
- For normal play, choose a package containing Star Citizen Digital Download. Account registration is free; an active official Free Fly may allow you to test without owning a package.
- Use the current tutorial or a training environment before your first valuable cargo run.
Our recommended starter packages
Pick the start that suits you: a modular all-rounder, a compact hauler or a direct route into mining and salvaging. Each package below includes the Star Citizen Digital Download, its ship, six months of insurance and 10,000 UEC in package credits. The referral bonus is a separate benefit for an eligible new account.
| Package / ship | Our recommendation | Price (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| Citizen / RSI Aurora Mk II | Modular entry: a flexible start for flying, hauling and different activities. | US$60 |
| Generalist / Drake Cutter | Compact, straightforward entry with 4 SCU of cargo space. | US$60 |
| Duelist / Aegis Avenger Titan | Versatile all-rounder with cargo space and a stronger combat focus. | US$75 |
| Miner / Drake Golem | The lowest-priced direct mining entry in this starter selection, for players who prefer breaking rocks. | US$75 |
| Salvager / RSI Salvation | Affordable entry into salvaging shipwrecks. | US$75 |
| Privateer / Drake Cutlass Black | Our premium recommendation: more room for transport and varied adventures, including playing together. | US$125 |
USD base prices before regional taxes. Promotions may cost less; extra modules and upgrades are not automatically included. Check package contents and the final price in the official shop.
One suitable package is enough to get started. Choose an all-rounder if you are still exploring different careers; mining and salvaging suit a more specific play style.

Referral questions
Can I add the code after signup?
RSI currently allows a 24-hour grace period for a newly created account. Check the code-entry field in your account summary. An existing referral association cannot simply be changed.
What does the $40 threshold mean?
The starter bonus and the referrer’s Recruitment Point are different. RSI ties that point to obtaining a game package and the qualifying store spending threshold. It is not a guaranteed current starter-package price.
Will I get an extra ship?
Additional referral rewards require an active promotion and its specific conditions. An extra ship is not a permanent guarantee.

A Star Citizen starter package does not automatically include Squadron 42, and the referral code does not promise a confirmed Squadron 42 discount or exclusive bonus.
