Squadron 42 on Steam: release, languages and wishlist
The official Steam page is now live. A store listing does not mean the game has been released: as checked on 10 October 2026, Squadron 42 is not yet available to buy on Steam. The store lists Q2 2027 as the planned release window and offers wishlisting. An exact release day and a purchase price have not yet been provided.

Create a Squadron 42 RSI account before orders open
The Squadron 42 website uses the official RSI registration form, including the familiar referral-code field. Our tested link fills in STAR-XQQL-Z6KR automatically. Check the field before completing registration.
- Open the official Squadron 42 registration page with our code.
- Choose an available account name and enter your own details directly with RSI.
- Check that the Referral Code field contains STAR-XQQL-Z6KR.
- Complete registration and any confirmation required by RSI.
- Keep your login details. When Squadron 42 becomes available to order, check the purchase and account conditions of your chosen store.
Already have an RSI account? Sign in with it. The updated registration screen does not require a separate Squadron 42 account. Check the contents of your existing packages before buying another offer.
Squadron 42 referrals: the same RSI account and programme
The new Squadron 42 registration page uses the existing RSI referral system. Its form lists 50,000 UEC after buying a game package. RSI requires a game package and at least US$40 spent in the Pledge Store for an active recruit to count. Registration alone does not satisfy that purchase condition.
Enter the code when you register now, then make your later purchase through the same account. When the Squadron 42 offer opens, check its contents and the referral conditions in force. RSI allows 24 hours after account creation to add a forgotten code.
UEC is described in the Star Citizen referral programme. We therefore do not present it as confirmed extra campaign currency for Squadron 42. A referral code does not automatically promise a price discount either.
What to check when Squadron 42 goes on sale
Once CIG opens sales or pre-orders, check the actual offer. Creating an account, joining a mailing list and buying a game are separate steps.
- Game access: the package must explicitly include Squadron 42. A Star Citizen starter package or a standalone ship is not a substitute for that entitlement.
- Existing packages: older bundles may have different contents. Check your RSI hangar so you do not buy access you already own.
- Total price: check the currency, taxes and full amount in the official checkout.
- Referral qualification: the offered game package and the programme’s published conditions determine how a purchase is counted.
- Release plans: CIG’s stated window is a plan. Follow the latest official announcement.
Squadron 42 or Star Citizen: which experience do you want?
Squadron 42 is the cinematic, story-driven single-player campaign. Star Citizen is the online universe with shared missions, flying and different professions. They use your RSI account, but their game-access entitlements are not automatically interchangeable.

Squadron 42 Q&A: Steam, languages and PC requirements
Has Squadron 42 been released on Steam?
No. The store page is live and you can add the game to your wishlist. As checked on 10 October 2026, Steam says it is not yet available and lists Q2 2027 as the planned release window. Wishlisting is neither a purchase nor a pre-order.
Does Squadron 42 have German voice acting?
The current Steam language table lists German interface support and German subtitles. German full audio is not listed. English is listed for interface, full audio and subtitles.
Does Squadron 42 on Steam require an RSI account?
Yes. Steam lists a required third-party Roberts Space Industries account and support for linking it to a Steam account. Use your existing RSI account if you have one. New RSI users can enter our referral code STAR-XQQL-Z6KR during free account registration.
Will a Steam purchase qualify for the RSI referral bonus?
The Steam listing does not confirm this. The existing RSI conditions specify a game package and at least US$40 spent in the Pledge Store. Account linking does not establish that a Steam purchase meets that condition. We are waiting for the official terms for Steam purchases.
What PC system requirements does Steam list?
The current minimum listing includes a 64-bit system with Windows 11, a quad-core processor, 16 GB RAM, a graphics card with 8 GB VRAM, a broadband internet connection and 150 GB of available storage. Full recommended specifications have not yet been provided. Recheck the store page before buying; minimum specifications do not guarantee a particular frame rate.
Is Squadron 42 single-player, and is it the same as Star Citizen?
Steam lists Squadron 42 as a single-player game. It is the separate cinematic campaign; Star Citizen is the online universe. Check which game entitlement each offer actually includes.
Which Steam features are listed?
The store currently lists Steam achievements, Steam Cloud, HDR support and Family Sharing. Check the current listing when the game goes on sale.
How much does Squadron 42 cost on Steam?
The Steam page checked on 10 October 2026 does not yet provide a purchase offer with a price. You can wishlist the game and follow official sales announcements.

As of 10 October 2026, it is not yet available to order there. You can already create your RSI account and follow official updates.
Can I choose my username now?
Yes. Choose an available account name when creating your RSI account. Registration does not reserve a game package or constitute a pre-order.
Does the referral code work on the Squadron 42 website?
Yes. We tested the registration link: the official form receives STAR-XQQL-Z6KR in its referral field. A later purchase follows the conditions of its store; Steam lists an RSI account requirement.
Do I need to spend 40 dollars right now?
No immediate purchase is required to create your account. The spending condition concerns referral qualification, not registration.
Do Star Citizen players need a second account?
No. Use your existing RSI account and check the game entitlements and packages you already own.
